About Us:
We are a fiercely independent, six-centre, mixed practice in the western Lake District. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced vet to join our friendly 30-vet team in a permanent part-time role.
Millcroft Vets is a member of XLVets, a community of independently-owned veterinary practices.
We have a busy and varied caseload of farm animal work with a 50:50 dairy-to-beef split, a thriving sheep business and numerous camelids. The farms are a real mix of historic, generational Lake District hill farms through to large and progressive dairy farms.
Our large animal work is 90% farm and 10% first opinion equine but there is room to do more equine.
The Role:
- This role would suit an experienced vet looking to step back in their career, reduce their hours while still keeping a hand in.
- As this is a part time role only, we are looking for experienced and capable vets to step right into the role.
- Experience of routine dairy fertility work.
- Well versed in all the common farm surgical procedures and emergencies.
- TB testing panels
- An awareness on broad herd health when treating individual sick farm animals.
- Solid first-opinion equine skills.
- Package up to £72k for a full-time equivalent.
- Package will be pro-rata based on working pattern chosen.
- Ideally, 1 to 2 days per week but with a full share in our OOH weekend and weeknight rota, or weekends only.
- Large-animal-only on-call rota. 1 weeknight per week, alternating between first and second, and 1 weekend in 5.
- Excellent facilities including portable digital radiography and numerous portable ultrasound units.
- CPD is encouraged to further your own interests and funded to Certificate / Masters / PGDip level for a long-term candidate.
- In addition to CPD allowance, we provide 1 week pro-rata paid CPD time
- RCVS, VDS, and one other professional membership fee of your choice BCVA, SVS
Holiday
- Pro-rata 238 hours of annual leave to include public holidays, with additional allowance for long service.
- Hours worked overtime returned as time off in lieu.
