Many common concerns that worry pet owners can be addressed through our nurse-led clinics, providing you with practical advice, ongoing support, and peace of mind.

Note that our nurse-led clinics take place at specific Millcroft branches, so please get in touch with your local branch for more information.

Senior Cat Clinic

As our feline friends get older, their health needs change, but the signs can be subtle and easily missed. Our Senior Cat Clinic at Workington, run by experienced RVN Helen Copping, provides dedicated 30-minute consultations for mature cats (7+) and senior cats (11+).

During the clinic, Helen can take blood samples to monitor liver, kidney, or thyroid function, check your cat's blood pressure, clip nails and help with grooming (including dematts), assess weight and mobility, and offer preventative dental care tips. If your cat is being monitored for an ongoing health condition, your vet may recommend a clinic appointment as a helpful check-in between consultations.

These clinics are perfect for early detection of age-related health issues, giving your cat the best chance of staying happy and healthy in their golden years. Senior Cat Clinics are available on Wednesday afternoons at our Workington practice.

Dental Clinic

Just like our own teeth, it's important to stay on top of your pet's dental hygiene. Dental disease can be particularly painful and symptoms might include:

  • bad breath
  • difficulty eating
  • a build-up of plaque or tartar
  • red swollen gums
  • drooling.

However, sometimes no symptoms are shown, which is why regular checks are essential.

Our Nurse Dental Clinics include a thorough mouth and teeth assessment to evaluate tartar and gingivitis, checking for any malformations or lumps, and a discussion about dental care options including brushing techniques, appropriate diet, and dental toys. Our experienced nurses can also apply disclosing dye to highlight areas that need extra attention during brushing, helping you maintain your pet's oral health at home.

If our nursing team has any concerns during the assessment, a veterinary surgeon will be informed and you'll be able to consider the options available.

Dental clinics are included in our Lifetime Care Club Ultimate plan.

Confidence Clinics

Does your dog or cat find vet visits stressful? Our Confidence Clinics are designed to help anxious pets feel calmer and more comfortable in the veterinary environment.

Canine Confidence Clinics help dogs who exhibit signs of nervousness such as panting, shaking, tucked tails, "whale eye", hiding, or reluctance to enter the practice. Our experienced nursing team works with you to read canine body language, reduce fear around handling and vet visits, and build trust through positive reinforcement. We can also offer support with separation anxiety and other worrying behaviours. Early intervention makes all the difference.

Feline Calm Clinics are designed to help your cat reduce stress levels and prevent stress-related health conditions such as feline lower urinary tract disease and cystitis. We can also work with you to reduce inter-cat conflict, inappropriate toileting, and scratching. Sometimes support can be given via telephone appointment to avoid travel-related stress.

Our nursing team includes individuals with a particular interest in behaviour who have undertaken further qualifications. Veterinary surgeons and external behaviourist referrals are available if needed.

Healthy Weight Club

Is your pet carrying a few extra pounds? You're not alone, obesity is one of the most common health issues we see in pets. Excess weight can put strain on joints, increase the risk of diabetes and heart disease, reduce energy levels and quality of life, and ultimately shorten your pet's lifespan.

Our Healthy Weight Club provides a supportive, judgement-free environment where our experienced nursing team helps you achieve and maintain a healthy weight for your pet. We understand that weight management can feel overwhelming, and we're here to support you every step of the way.

Each appointment includes a review of current feeding, treats, and exercise, a weigh-in with Body Condition Score assessment and progress photos, and a tailored plan with realistic food and exercise recommendations. We provide ongoing monitoring and support throughout your journey.

If our nurses have any concerns about an underlying health condition, they'll discuss this with a veterinary surgeon.

Dental clinics are included in our Lifetime Care Club Ultimate plan.
